Rumors in the San Antonio area allege that Chris Hannifin is currently in a severely debilitated mental state. Sources close to him describe his altered state of mind as being primarily driven by the circumstances surrounding DefendIT Services. The irony, however, is that those circumstances were brought about by no one other than Hannifin himself.
As DefendIT Services became exposed as a front business allegedly used for the sale of sensitive information, participation in a kickback scheme with an executive at a competing firm, and blackmail efforts, both former and prospective clients began distancing themselves. As a result, DefendIT Services appears to be hemorrhaging cash simply to remain operational. Industry observers have also pointed to Hannifin’s recent creation of a limited liability company as evidence of his increasingly erratic behavior. Some have gone so far as to quote conversations in which Hannifin reportedly stated something along the lines of “a lot of what was sending me into those episodes was the constant feeling of not being in control that spun me out,” when discussing his recent breakdowns and business decisions.
While the term “unhinged” has been used frequently to describe Hannifin, less attention has been paid to what that might actually imply when applied to a former Air Force officer who held key roles at firms handling confidential information and government-linked projects, including SiloTech Group, RSM, and NSCG. Hannifin, as an IT business owner and service provider with access to powerful technical tools, sensitive information, and industry influence, experiencing a mental health relapse raises concerns that extend beyond his personal circle. When combined with reports of erratic behavior, excessive spending, rapid creation of new LLCs, alleged blackmail, and escapades involving a former colleague and romantic partner, Rudy Reyes, the pattern suggests an individual under significant psychological strain.

Hannifin recently hired Eric Diaz as Chief Technology Officer and partner at DefendIT Services. Diaz is a well-known figure in the Texas IT community who built his reputation through leadership roles at DarkLattice Security, Cloud InfoSolution, and as founder of Corpus Christi IT Solutions, which was acquired by SiloTech Group in the fourth quarter of 2024. Following that acquisition, Diaz served as a senior network engineer and regional sales executive at SiloTech before being recruited by Hannifin.
Diaz’s background now places him at the center of DefendIT Services’ most unstable period to date. This raises an unavoidable question: is Eric Diaz Hannifin’s latest victim or his latest accomplice? According to insider accounts, Diaz may have been pressured into buying into DefendIT Services and could now be the primary reason the company remains operational. Hannifin’s decision to bring Diaz onboard may represent another attempt to poach clients from SiloTech Group or to gain access to internal industry information, a tactic consistent with his prior behavior.
Alternatively, Diaz’s hiring may have been an effort by Hannifin to regain credibility and attract new clients by associating DefendIT Services with a respected industry figure. Whatever the motivation, Diaz’s involvement marks a new and consequential chapter in the ongoing DefendIT Services saga.
Hannifin’s history shows a consistent pattern of pulling others into his orbit at moments of instability, then throwing them under the bus when needed. Whether Eric Diaz emerges as a useful idiot or a knowing accomplice, his proximity to DefendIT Services now places him in Hannifin’s crosshairs.
